Birdbox : A Quest For Survival

I received recommendations about this movie and I was indeed so excited to spend my precious 2 hours watching it. For a movie that spurned countless memes on social media and even became a widespread challenge – In addition to inspiring people around the world to blindfold themselves and grievously injure their bodies in the name of memes that Netflix had to issue a warning against participating in the “Bird Box Challenge” I am not sure I really felt the movie in the way I thought I would, I kind of fancy mystery movies, but there was just something about this movie, that didn’t quite stick or resonate with my subconscious mind, or the realistic side of my brain, I guess my major problem is that I love to think things true and try to make sense of everything, I guess I was wrong in trying to apply that same mindset to Birdbox, as it apparently didn’t follow, well I would give you a snippet into Birdbox later, well please do try the movie and let me know if you felt totally different about this, for me this is my review.

Birdbox

The entirity of Birdbox was actually centered on a few major casts who were present from start to finish, the others just appeared in a few scenes and died off along the way. Now come to recount now it felt nice seeing Sandra Bullock who happened to be the lead actress in this movie, she did try in putting out a good show,(for me which I felt wasn’t really realistic), but it was okay.

The first scene had Sandra’s sister accompany her to the hospital to check the wellbeing of her new baby, little did they know that a mysterious force was going to take over the earth. On their way back they just kept seeing people misbehaving, tons of people running and cars driving into the other, the whole world was in chaos and anarchy, confused without knowing what to do, they got down and started running in that process her sister looked up and died, “Malorie” as she was called in the movie, was lucky to find someone open the door for her and a black guy who helped her up. With a few people running into this house for safety, this was when the movie moved into a whole new level, survival was the only thing on their mind and they had to lay low to survive the longest 5 years of their life.

Well you will have to see the movie in its entirety to judge for yourself if the quest for safety and another life was worth it, it was a painful story, but I did learn a few lessons, that when you want to live, you would do all it takes to survive.

Trust me, it was quite difficult for me making up my mind if I really like Birdbox, it was okay but it didn’t meet my needs, nor surpass my expectations, I felt empty and down at the end as there was really no substance for me to hold on to, but anyway I did try to make the little sense I could from it and wait for it till the very end. The effects, cast and location was ok and I did feel they did put up a good production and cinematography to make sure that it looked so real. Well for all the mystery, suspense and Sci-fiction movie lovers, please try this out and let me know your take. To my verdict 5.5/10 for at least the few things I have mentioned above.
